Headteacher's Fortnightly Update - 12th December 2025

This week I had the pleasure of attending our Attendance Summit with members of our school, the governing body and the Local Authority, where we continued our important discussions around improving attendance for all pupils. We remain strongly committed to working in partnership with families to ensure every child benefits from full and consistent access to learning, and I am grateful for your ongoing support as we move forward with this priority.

We also celebrated Festive Day on Wednesday, during which, every pupil enjoyed a Christmas lunch provided by the school. It was wonderful to see the dining hall filled with smiles, laughter, and a real sense of community. Staff and pupils alike commented on the warm, festive atmosphere, and it was lovely to bring everyone together in this way.

I was personally delighted to attend Ringland Primary School's Christmas concert, and it was heart-warming to see so many of our parents and carers there supporting the pupils. Events like these truly highlight the strength of our school community, and I am proud to be part of this.

It has been an extremely busy and enriching period for trips and experiences. Pupils have had the opportunity to see Mary Poppins at the WMC, enjoy Alice Returns to Wonderland at the Sherman Theatre—particularly tailored for our ASD learners—and attend the Christmas panto at the Riverfront. These experiences broaden horizons, inspire creativity, and bring a great deal of joy to our pupils. We are fortunate to have staff who work so hard behind the scenes to provide these opportunities, and more trips are planned for the new year.

I would also like to warmly invite all families to join us for our Christmas Concert on 16th December, where pupils will showcase their musical and performing talents, and to our Winter Fest on 18th December, which promises to be a fantastic community celebration. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Looking ahead to next week, lessons will continue as normal up until Period 3 on Friday so attendance to every lesson is as important as ever. Following this, pupils will take part in a range of festive activities until the usual end of the school day at 3pm. As a reminder, Friday 19th will be a non-school-uniform day for all pupils where we encourage pupils to wear festive clothing.

The new term will begin on Monday 5th January, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind families of the importance of punctuality and high standards of uniform. Pupils should be in form by 8:40am each morning. We have noticed a dip in uniform standards over recent weeks, particularly with the increased wearing of hoodies, and we kindly ask for your support in ensuring pupils return in the new year meeting our uniform expectations.

Finally, I would like to wish all our pupils, families, and staff a very happy Christmas period and a peaceful, joyful New Year. Thank you for your continued support.
